Bridal Ballet

This summer we were asked to create 12 Cuffs as gifts/accessories for a bridal party on the East Coast.  When we were designing them we asked the bride to send us pictures of her bridesmaids dresses for inspiration.  She sent us the Two Birds Classic Dress in Black.  This dress can wrap in up to 15 unique ways to create different styles and it comes in 18 colors.  The perfect dress that bridesmaids can actually wear again (as long as you get it in a good color).

Cuffs Couture meet Swan Lake

Since we are on the subject of all things ballet, I think some of our Cuffs fit perfectly into this new trend.  Cuffs Couture create the dramatic, theatrical look but at the same time they are super functional.  Check out all the looks here.
The Alice or Kendra Cuff are perfect for this look.

Swan Lake: The Accessories

In Black Swan, glamorous and elegant accessories add to the look of this ultra modern yet ultra classic take on the ballet, Swan Lake.  The movie encompasses all types of accessories that have taken over the runways.  The soft ballet flat, the feathered hair piece, the elegant cuff, leg and arm warmers, and soft cover-up pieces are all essential to achieve this look.

Try a feather headpiece.
Or a super chic, yet feminine headband.
Layer soft pieces for that "just out of the studio" look.  Try leg and arm warmers, or try Ch'armz, a removable sleeve that you can throw in your bag and take out and throw on when you start to get chilly.  But this new brand is so cool, we will discuss more later.

Enter the Tutu!

So when my mom hears that the Tutu is the hottest thing in fashion straight out of Lisa Kline's mouth I have to stop and think...One, why was my mom talking fashion with Lisa Kline of Lisa Kline on Robertson, and two, was Carrie Bradshaw so fashion forward that she wore a tutu back in 1998?  Well actually Patricia Field is the mastermind behind the fashion on Sex and the City, and yes she is that fashion forward to think a grown woman can leave the house in a tutu.

In 2010, Black Swan, the highly anticipated movie staring Natalie Portman as a ballerina, is inspiring designers all over the word to take classic dance costume and translate it to high fashion on the runways.

Swan Lake

Inspired by the upcoming movie Black Swan starring Natalie Portman, Mila Kunis, and Winona Ryder, this week will be all things Ballerina!
Here’s the official synopsis for Black Swan:
BLACK SWAN follows the story of Nina (Portman), a ballerina in a New York City ballet company whose life, like all those in her profession, is completely consumed with dance. She lives with her retired ballerina mother Erica (Barbara Hershey) who zealously supports her daughter’s professional ambition. When artistic director Thomas Leroy (Vincent Cassel) decides to replace prima ballerina Beth MacIntyre (Winona Ryder) for the opening production of their new season, Swan Lake, Nina is his first choice. But Nina has competition: a new dancer, Lily (Kunis), who impresses Leroy as well. Swan Lake requires a dancer who can play both the White Swan with innocence and grace, and the Black Swan, who represents guile and sensuality. Nina fits the White Swan role perfectly but Lily is the personification of the Black Swan. As the two young dancers expand their rivalry into a twisted friendship, Nina begins to get more in touch with her dark side with a recklessness that threatens to destroy her.
